Environment literacy campaign was conducted by IIFM Bhopal from 26 Oct -28 Oct. ELC 2018 is the 2nd edition of the campaign which is initiated last year by IIFM. The goal of the campaign was “to create awareness for cleanliness & hygiene and motivating people for turning up to the sustainable technology” through Cleanliness drives, Nukkad Natak, Enviro quiz and the Go-green marathon.

The campaign started with the inauguration ceremony on 26th oct in which Dr Satinath Sarangi (Head of Sadbhawna trust) and Ms Shaan Suhaas Kumar (Miss Earth India, 2017) were the chief guests. Dr Sarangi, who is leading social activist of Bhopal gas tragedy address students on the topic “What shall we call pollution?”.

The inauguration of the Flea market was at Ashima mall on 26th Oct inaugurated by Ms Shaan Suhaas Kumar (Miss Earth India, 2017). In which an entrepreneur participated who was involved in making handmade products; product made out of reused materials, recycled material & eco-friendly products which helped in creating awareness among people by telling them, how they can contribute to saving the environment through their small efforts.

Flash mob & Nukkad Natak were performed on six different locations across Bhopal. On 26th oct, Nukkad Natak performed in New market, DB city mall & 10-number market and on 27th the location was Boat club, Campion food street (Shahpura) & Ashima mall (Hoshangabad road). The focus of Nukkad Natak was at reducing the plastic waste at both individual as well as population level.

A cleanliness drive conducted on 27th oct morning in New market Bhopal where students of IIFM participated in cleanliness drive on a large number. The theme of drive focuses on the removal of a plastic waste of new market area. On 27th Oct in a series of the event a workshop on Sustainability was conducted at IIFM. Mr Amit Darak an IIFM alumnus currently working as a sustainability professional at KPMG was the keynote speaker of the workshop. The workshop is focused on the sustainability reporting, responsible finance & circular economy in which students from different college from Bhopal attended the workshop.

Go-green marathon was organised on concluding day of the ELC 2018, 28th oct. In the 25 km long Go-green marathon, participants were ranging from professionals to local people, faculty, school students. Mr Amjad Ali was the winner of the event. The youngest participant a 7-year old boy participated in the marathon. Apart from the winner of the event a former Army personnel Mr A.K. Tiwari who is promoting “Swacch Bharat Abhiyan” was the center  of attraction of the event.

ELC 2018 concluded by the Environment quiz event on 28th Oct in which 11 teams from different schools in Bhopal participated.
